Lowcountry Marsh Front LIVING

Enjoy stunning marsh views from your living room, master bedroom & multiple porches in this elevated custom home in Rivertowne Country Club. The magnificent sunset views are made even more special by the wildlife you can see from your kitchen table, from the fish jumping in the water to hummingbirds, cardinals, herons, ospreys, doves and lots more. Many of the birds live in the live oak tree that is in the backyard.

When you enter this home, there’s a dining room to the left with venetian plaster walls and wainscotting, but your eye will be drawn to the living room to enjoy the scenery.

The open plan living room & kitchen area is perfect for entertaining, and you can open the french door to the huge porch, to enjoy both indoor and outdoor living.

The spacious living room has a coffered ceiling, fireplace and built in cabinetry.

The kitchen features newer appliances, double open, gas cooktop, custom cabinetry and a large kitchen island. There’s a breakfast nook to enjoy…...yes, the views !

There is a large walk-in pantry and the laundry room has a built-in sink, cabinets and second refrigerator.

The screened porch can be accessed from both the living room and the master bedroom. It has a gas line to your bbq and you’ll find yourself eating a lot of your meals here.

The master bedroom has views out to the marsh, with sliding doors out to the porch to enjoy your morning coffee. The bedroom is large enough to have a living space.

The master bathroom has dual vanities, with plenty of cabinetry for your storage. There is a walk in shower room with a rainshower head, and a jetted tub. A large custom closet completes the master bathroom.

Walking up the stairs, you’ll find the perfect room for movie night or game day with a wet bar and wine fridge. It has glass doors leading out to a deck, with probably the best view of all.

There are two bedrooms on the left with a jack & jill bathrooms, with a similar layout on the right side of the house, for a total of 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms upstairs, in addition to the master bedroom downstairs.  Each of the bedrooms have walk-in closets and are oversized for secondary bedrooms.

The southern style house has a gas lantern on the full front porch, which sits above a brick covered elevated foundation.

The garage has space for all your cars & golf cart and includes a climate controlled storage area, which could also be used as a workout/yoga space.

Other features of this amazing home include elevator shaft, the irrigation system is on a separate meter, the flood insurance costs are low, there are Sonos speakers on the porches, Nest controllers set the temperature for the 3 HVAC units.

Our House, written by the sellers

Why did you buy this house ?

Probably the main reason we bought this house is the view from the back porch. When we entered the front door for the very first time, we walked straight across the living room and out onto the porch. Most of our time spent viewing the house the first time was spent enjoying the amazing views. In a matter of a few hours from seeing it we had an accepted offer and have never regretted the decision.

We’ve been here for over 5 years now and we still enjoy watching all the wildlife outside from the fish jumping to the Osprey fishing.

Another reason was the great office space upstairs. I work from home and it was important for me to be able to have a quiet place to work from. A lot of houses have offices by the front door which I didn’t want as, especially with the kids in the summer, there’s a lot of people coming and going through the front door.

We really wanted an open plan kitchen / living room area too. We didn’t want to be in the kitchen and cut off from the kids or when visitors come by. It’s great as an entertaining space or to just hang out. The house has a great flow and a great layout. Having the French doors and sliding door that lead to the back porch off the living room and kitchen lets you extend the inside to the outside.

Why did you buy in this area?

We had visited Mount Pleasant and Charleston on vacation and fell in love with the area. When the opportunity arrived to work from home, we moved to Mount Pleasant. We chose Mount Pleasant because of the great public schools and its proximity to the beach, Charleston, and the airport along with its beautiful neighborhoods.

What’s your favorite thing about your house ?

The incredible views out the back especially from the upper porch at sunset.

What will you miss when you move ?

All the wildlife you can see from the kitchen table. We see lots of birds on a regular basis; hummingbirds, cardinals, herons, ospreys, doves and lots more.

Have you done any improvements to it ?

We’ve always kept up on the maintenance on the home such as replacing one of the HVAC units when it started giving trouble.

Both the exterior and interior of the house was repainted. We did an almost complete color change inside. Before the house was painted in dark colors so we brightened it up a lot. We also repainted the house on the exterior, but we really liked the original color green and kept that.

We changed the gutters at the back and increased the size.

Appliances we changed after moving in:

  • The Samsung washing machine was purchased last year.

  • The Jennair 6 burner cooktop is 2 years old.

  • The refrigerator in the laundry room is 2 years old.

  • The Samsung refrigerator, Samsung dryer and Bosch dishwasher are 5 years old.

We also removed all the carpet in the house replacing it with wooden floors.

Anything else you want to say about your house

It’s a great house in a great neighborhood. It’s so quiet and peaceful here and the sunsets are magnificent. What makes Crooked Stick Ln so special is that it is a very quiet street with very little traffic, and a great variety of people from families with young children to retirees.

Tell us about your subdivision ?

We started by mapping out the stores we liked, the beach, Charleston, the airport, and other places we thought we would visit on a regular basis and didn’t want to be more than 20-30 minutes from those places.

That eliminated a lot of Park West and most of Dunes West and those subdivisions just seemed huge and had a lot of traffic.

When we visited Rivertowne it was totally different. There’s no through roads in Rivertowne so that eliminates a lot of traffic as only people who live here or are visiting are on the roads.

There’s a great resort type feel when you drive down Rivertowne Country Club drive and it feels like you’re permanently on vacation. There are great amenities and from the house it’s only a 6 minute walk to the Golf Club, Pool, Playground and Tennis Courts. Also, having the Harris Teeter that’s open 24/7 at the entrance to the subdivision is very convenient.

What are the amenities that you use the most ?

I’ve taken advantage of living on the golf course (which is a very well maintained Arnold Palmer designed course) and the kids have spent a lot of time at the pool.
